Boge Cartomizers: E-juice Refiling Secrets

boge cartomizer refilling e-liquidHey guys. Here’s another quick post about refilling your cartomizers.

As I’ve already mentioned in previous posts here, I have been using Boge cartomizers a lot. I’ve since discovered a neat little refilling secret which I’m going to share with you. By the way, this method will also work for all other cartos and even those on the Halo e cigs.

The Problem With Boge Cartomizers

The problem with the Boge’s, whether you are using the LR or standard resistance cartomizers, are the same. They have a very non-absorbent polyfill material, so when you drip from the top the liquid kind of sits there and does not seem to want to soak into the material.

Now, if you were to hit the atomizer switch and start to vape at this stage, you would end up burning your polyfiller material and you might even risk damaging the column. The result would be leakage.

This is especially apparent when you crack open a fresh carto and try refilling it for the first time – the e-liquid simply refuses to soak in! This brand of cartomizers require a break-in period of a couple of days.

I’ve tried using the “condom method” and it is pretty much the same deal, though just a fraction better. For those of you who do not know what the “condom method” is, it is referring to a bottom fill as opposed to a top fill, using the rubber caps that you get when you purchase cartomizers.

The Tip: Packing In the E-Juice During a Refill

So the secret to refilling a new or used cartomizer is simple. Firstly, bottom-fill initially, if you wish the process to be quicker.

Next, top fill the carto with about 6 drops, paying attention NOT to  drip the liquid into the center column.

The e-juice should now be swelling around the top of the cartridge. Give the carto a few sharp blows and and you’ll notice after a few seconds that the material has soaked up all your nicotine liquid.

Repeat this procedure for a few more rounds to ensure the cartomizer has absorbed as much fluid as possible, and you’re done. Happy vaping!

I have yet to try this method, but so far using a syringe has been the easiest way for me.

Since you’re giving cartomizer filling tips, here’s my two cents:

You know those cartomizer “condom” covers that have the center pin that goes inside the carto? Put that on the bottom before filling. Without airflow and with the surface tension of the liquid, it will not run down the center tube even if you flood the end and wait for absorption. It does take longer to absorb into the filling, naturally. This is not for those who are topping up on the go but more for when you are filling the night before it will be used.

Another thing I love is bamboo skewers. They usually come in 50 or 100-packs at the grocery store, for making your own sate (satay for the West) or kabobs. Only costs $1 or so. NOTE that these are not chopstick thick. They are about double the diameter of a toothpick.

The point is tapered, as all points are. But what you can do, lightly place this in the air tube center column before filling. It gives you a handle so you don’t get juice on your hands, and lets you stop worrying about getting juice down the column.

Also, after filling, remember to reattach the carto condoms to BOTH ends. Both VG and PG are alcohols, and do evaporate. When your ejuice evaporates, it leaves concentrated flavorings which might taste good but thick and goopy juice definitely contributes to faster clogging of your cartos and attys.

    Vape on!
