Elusion Electronic Cigarette Review

If you’re new to the world of electronic cigarettes, and nicotine vaping, then this product might be just what you’re looking for. The Elusion cigarette is geared mainly for people who are trying to quit smoking but just can’t be bothered with all the different personal vaporizer devices out there in the market. They also for people who aren’t interested in mixing their own nicotine liquids.

I actually got started with E cigarettes through Elusion as well. They were the first electronic cigarettes I’ve ever owned and I bought them because it seemed simple enough to use, and at the time, I could not be bothered finding out more about the other brands of E cigarettes available.

Pricing

In terms of price, compared to the other types of devices like the Joye 510 and the Ego, these Elusion cigarettes are quite expensive. I paid $98 for the starter kit which came together with a rechargeable case, 1 battery, a USB cord, and 6 nicotine-free atomizer cartridges (and a manual of course).

I ordered the 18 mg nicotine cartridges and each pack came with five cartridges. Note that these are flavorless versions but you can purchase these in two other flavors as well (more on that later). I wasn’t interested in fancy flavors at the time anyway, and just wanted to kick the habit of smoking.

What does it taste like?

Flavorless nicotine juice alone is a little bit on the sweet side, with nothing else added. The Elusions provided a pretty good throat hit as well, with the device outputting warm vapor upon inhalation.

You get the same hit as you would with a tobacco cigarette, minus the bad smell and the lingering aftertaste of tar and smoke. Many of you who are considering quitting cigarettes, might think that the E cigarettes are not going to be the same as the real thing, but trust me, it isn’t the case. It is one of those things that you will have to try first-hand, before you’ll believe.

Quitting smoking

In terms of having withdrawal symptoms and cravings, the Elusions worked exceptionally well.

I still recall the first day I started vaping these: I had no desire to smoke a tobacco cigarette at all. At that time, I was pretty amazed at how easy it was to not smoke analogue cigarettes. It took me about 24 hours to adjust to the taste as well as some old habits such as leaving my room to go outside for some fresh air and a quick puff. But I adjusted easy enough without any struggle.

Battery life

One thing that I don’t like about the Elusion cigarette is the battery life. To be fair though, these batteries are exactly the same size as your regular analog cigarette so with something that small you just can’t expect it to have tons of battery life.

My starter kit came with a personal charger, which is pretty much a cigarette box type thing, that allows you to charge the e-cig’s while you’re on the go.

The battery lasted me about two hours at best, but because I always kept a fully charged secondary backup battery with me at all times, this wasn’t an issue. If you’re going to buy the starter kit, I seriously recommend that you pick up two or three spare batteries during your purchase, and carry these with you when you’re out of the house.

The case actually acts as a storage device as well as a charger. Just charge up the box at night while you sleep, either through a power outlet or via USB on your computer. It holds a lot of battery charge so during the day, you can just charge up your E cigarettes using the box. When fully charged, the box lasted me an entire day of recharging the cigarette batteries, several times over.

The E liquid cartridges

As mentioned before, these cartridges can be quite expensive and I personally went through two cartridges of day, and I’m a half a pack a day smoker. A pack of five cartridges will cost you around $21, and if you’re a moderate smoker, you would be going through about one cartridge a day, I think. So considering that a pack of cigarettes would cost you about $12, the Elusions are still going to be a much more economical alternative to smoking.

Pros:

  • Taste is decent and got me off analog cigarettes immediately
  • The E cigarettes are small and have a good form factor so they are easy to carry in your pocket or purse
  • They really look like real cigarettes especially from a distance
  • Shipping was exceptionally fast, and they ship internationally as well
  • Perfect for beginners, easy to use and hassle-free.

Cons:

  • Refill cartridges are a bit expensive for my tastes, I’d rather mix my own E liquids.
  • Battery life is a bit short for my liking, with each charge only lasting one to two hours. Buy a few extra batteries for backup.
  • Lack of alternative flavors. They only supply non-flavored, coffee and menthol flavored nicotine cartridges – if you’re into other fancy flavors then you are out of luck. These days I prefer other flavors like banana, caramel and vanilla. But if you’re not fussed about this and your only aim is to quit smoking, it’s really not a big deal.

Conclusion: Did it help me quit smoking?

Definitely look into these Elusion electronic cigarettes especially if you’re new to the whole vaping experience. They are a fantastic way to get started without spending too much money and not knowing if you’re going to like electronic cigarettes or not. Give these a shot first, and if you like it you can either buy cartridge refill packs from Elusion or move on to the more advanced E cigarette devices.

Did it help me quit smoking? That’s a confirmed “YES”.

However, before you go ahead an purchase an Elusion kit, I recommend you check out the Halo G6 e-cigarette review I did. These are much higher in build quality, with better flavors and cheaper price tag.

Good luck!

    Hey there fellow AussieVaper!
Yes the Elusion was my first port of call before I found out about the alternatives,so I’m now on an Ego-T with 2 1000mah batts and Boge LR atomizers supplied by Juicewhore.com.

The Elusion got me off the Cigs straight off the bat!

I found the same cons as you, but I only purchased the usb starter kit and not enough cartridges…so same thing.

I believe they will come down in price as New Zealand have now been OK’d to start clinical trials, though this should pass over here to Aus, so Nico juice hopefully will be available.

    Converted?

    YES :-)

Good for you :) Elusion’s are great in my opinion for those who are first-timers and have never used an e-cig before. So rather than investing a good amount of money into them, the Elusion cigarettes are a cheap way to determine whether you like vaping or not. If you do, then graduate from there and upgrade.

      Hey there Mech!
For anyone out there who wants to try a very reasonable e-Cig for converting from analogue to digital these are a great little unit.
They obviously are a little heavier being a battery and not plant material in paper and if like myself you are a RYO smoker and like to have one dangling out of your gob most of the day,it’s strange for a while, biting on the thing, dribbling on yourself BUT they look like a real ciggie…well menthol style ’cause they’re white!\

Like yourself my first day of using, well I had no cravings at all.The Vape was surprisingly good, decent throat hit and the “standard flavour” is quite pleasant especially if you want to show or try to convert anyone, as there is absolutely NO smell and the vapour dissipates almost immediately.

Great for conning your partner into giving it a go too!

I even blew the vape straight into my mum’s face,an ex-smoker of many years and man it was priceless!
Now she’s off my back finally and I’m a grown man with a partner and a baby LOL….mothers hey?

One thing with these is, as they ship from New Zealand I would suggest for anyone considering trying them is to buy 3 or 4 packs of Atomized Cartridges at the same time,as the shipping is a flat rate up to 0.5 KG and they are flat out lasting a day for a reasonable smoker..this was my downfall, and I had to go back to Rollies until my next pay…man that sucked!
Another thing with all these Atomizers is that you might think the cartridge is finished, but chances are it may well be that the battery is low,so unless they taste burnt, keep them aside with the caps on so they stay “wet” and recharge the battery!

I did find out after joining the forum that the end cap could be pried open carefully and can be dripped, provided the Cart hasn’t burnt but you won’t get a great deal much more life, maybe just enough.

As I stated above I purchased the USB single starter pack that comes with one zero Nic Cart,USB charger, wall adapter and a 5 pack of 16mg which worked out quiet well.

Another tip is that you can get a usb car charger here from Woolworths for about $6-7 atm!
It has 2 usb sockets and an extension charger in the middle for your mobile!

Being only a 220mah unit this came in handy so no real need for the starter-kit if you want to spend a little less to start out.
Anyhow love your reviews, keep ‘em coming…the Halo one was very cool!

      I want one :)

What is the total price delivered here to AU?

      Cheers

      mushman ;)

    Hey Mushman,

Thanks for all those extra tips. Awesome.

How much was the delivery to Australia? I think the Elusions starter kit with extra batteries and cartos set me back about $19. I can’t remember, it was a while ago.

I also just purchased the Elusion ecig from Elusion Australia (which translates to New Zealand) Paid $136.00 AUD. What a complete waste of money! The product does not work. Charged it up first day fine second day light on end keeps flashing,, charged it up again, light still flashing, new catridge thinking… shouldn’t need replacing only had approx 30 drags on it but light is flashing, light kept flashing, brought a new battery as I had no response from Customer service, first day worked fine, charged it up, second day tried to use, same problem, now I know it is not the cartridge, just faulty product, asked if we could return for refund was told they do not refund, even when product faulty. What a RIP OFF. Take my advice stay away fron this company!

    • mech says:

Hi Jan, although I haven’t experienced anything bad with the Elusion’s, I haven’t experienced anything great either. This is why I recommend that people check out the Halo e-cigs instead.

  5. Nathan says:

Just got one today NZ $25 for 1 elusion!!!!! Told 5 cartridges $50. 1 cartridge a day you say??? I’m with Jan. Rip off product. 3 puffs with smoke, then nothing. Tried to charge. Light wouldn’t come on. Tried…nothing. Tried to charge again. No light still. Checked…nothing I’m doing wrong. Charge 3 hours like trained salesperson told me (video says 6???). Charged longer… NOTHING! I know if I take it back I’ll get the NO REFUNDS slap in the face policy because it will be at the shops expense. No refund on faulty product after 1 day is that even legal? So instead of returning it. Im going to burn the whole thing into a little vapor and post a comment for the first time in my life. NO GO!?! NO REFUND!?!! NO $25 IN MY POCKET…. NOW I’m hanging for a cigarette.
Is it an elusion or did I just throw $25 into a black hole? Experience may differ for individual users. Buy at your own risk.

    • mech says:

Sorry to hear that Nathan, I feel your pain. I was lucky enough to not have issues with the Elusions but I stopped using them shortly after and went on to better brands of e-cigs. You should take it up with the FTC and or threaten with legal action or something, make them give you a refund in full. Let us know how you go.

  6. Mic says:

I have the same problem. I got a starter pack in early january and it didnt even work once. After sharing emails with a customer service rep i had to send the kit back. At my cost. Im in Australia so it was like $15 shipping. Waiting three weeks and got my replacement yesterday. Charged it up over night and used it this morning. Had about two cigarettes worth out of it and now it’s just flashing.
    Pretty pissed off right now

  7. Tam says:

Just got one the other day but can I find nicotine cartridges? No!!! They’re all nic free. Where can I get them from??

    • mech says:

You should be able to get the from the Elusion website. I know they stock nicotine-free as well as regular nic cartridges. I haven’t been to their site in a while. Not a big fan of their products anymore.
